Warrior Blue

 "Warrior Blue" is inspired by the woman I met in Namibia from the Himba tribes & the Tigray mountains of Ethiopia. Her necklace was found at the tip (recycling centre) at the point of it being bulldozed into landfill.
 
She is 17.5cm tall x 17cm wide at the base and is made from clay in my inner city home in Melbourne, Australia.  Once dry she was bisque fired to 1000°. I then glazed and fired her in the ancient Japanese Raku method. I repeated the glazing and firing process until she reflected the earthy colours of the Namibian Desert.
